ICAI Pune MSME Mahotsav Highlights IP and Financial Strategy for Business Growth

Pune: The Pune Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), in collaboration with its Committee on MSME and Startups, successfully organized the ICAI Pune MSME Mahotsav – a one-day event dedicated to empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through knowledge sessions on intellectual property (IP), government schemes, and financial best practices.

Inaugurating the ICAI Pune MSME Mahotsav, IP law expert Advocate Anand Mahurkar emphasized the need for modern entrepreneurs to commercialize India’s intellectual heritage.

“Our ancestors leveraged intellectual property to build trade. Today, legal protection and commercialization of IP is the foundation for sustainable business success,” he said.

He cited historical examples such as the Paithani saree to illustrate successful ancient IP strategies and stressed the importance of registering and monetizing IP in contemporary markets.

ICAI Pune MSME Mahotsav drew participation from industry leaders and chartered accountants, including CA Sachin Miniyar, Chairman, ICAI Pune; CA Pranav Apte, Vice Chairman; CA Nilesh Yewalekar, Secretary; and Aniruddha Brahme, Assistant Director, Maratha Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture.

Sessions at the ICAI Pune MSME Mahotsav included:
  • “The Art and Science of Financial Projections for Loan Sanctions” by CA Ranjeet Kulkarni, who offered guidance on structuring project proposals aligned with MSME Ministry schemes.
  • “Virtual CFO Services” by CA Pramod Jain, emphasizing the growing demand for strategic financial leadership in MSMEs.
  • A helpdesk supporting Udyam registration updates, grievance redressal, and awareness of central government MSME initiatives.

CA Sachin Miniyar highlighted the objective behind the Mahotsav: “This event is designed to equip finance professionals and entrepreneurs with the insights needed to thrive in an evolving MSME ecosystem. Topics such as AI, IPR, and financial modeling are crucial for the sector’s transformation.”

Organized as part of ICAI‘s broader commitment to nation-building, the event reinforced the role of chartered accountants in supporting MSME formalization, regulatory compliance, and financial literacy across India.
